Country mandates supported

2-way

Outbound & inbound automation

1

Unified compliance dashboard

01

Context

E-invoicing mandates differ in every country formats, certification, transmission networks, tax fields. NetSuite customers operating across borders were juggling country specific workarounds and manual filings, with no single place to see what had been sent, received or failed.

02

The problem

Design one e-invoicing experience that automates outbound and inbound electronic documents, adapts to each country's mandate, and stays legible to finance teams who are not compliance experts including the setup path through NetSuite Electronic Business, the prerequisite app the product depends on.

03

Approach

  • Mapped the end to end document lifecycle  generation, certification, sending, inbound conversion, error handling  into a single status model shared across every country.
  • Designed a country-agnostic core experience with flexible support for country-specific templates, tax requirements, and transmission channels.
  • Designed NetSuite Electronic Business, the prerequisite app, so onboarding a new country is a guided configuration rather than an implementation project.
  • Created a unified Electronic Documents dashboard to manage outbound and inbound documents, including generation, transmission, errors, conversion, and incomplete or failed documents.

04

How the experience improved for users and the business.

User value

  • Finance teams can monitor outbound and inbound e-documents, processing status, and errors from a centralized dashboard instead of tracking different stages across disconnected workflows.
  • Users get clear, actionable document statuses across generation, certification, sending, and inbound conversion, making it easier to identify what needs attention.
  • Inbound e-invoices can be automatically received and converted into NetSuite transactions, reducing the need for users to manually process electronic invoice data.

Business value

  • Scale compliance across markets through a single NetSuite e-invoicing framework supporting country-specific templates, requirements, and multiple e-document processes.
  • Reduce manual processing across the invoice lifecycle by automating e-document generation, transmission, inbound conversion, and transaction responses.
  • Improve visibility and control over compliance operations by bringing network status, processing states, and document history into the NetSuite environment rather than requiring separate monitoring workflows.
